On 23 June in Seville, Pedro Astola, Head of R&D at Titania, attended the Aeronautical Technology Plan (PTA) Conference, which was attended by more than 150 representatives from the Andalusian aerospace industry.
The conference was entitled “Next Generation Funds for the Transformation of the Aerospace Sector” and highlighted the strategic importance of R&D as an export capacity and for the generation of qualified employment. In addition, it highlighted the main fields of innovation focused on environmental, digital and social sustainability to position the Spanish industry among the major international programmes for the development and innovation of new technological and scientific capabilities.
Titania was invited as an example of a successful case study of projects funded in the 2021 call of the PTA in the SME modality. In particular, the Cadiz-based company presented the research and development project ACTIVAL together with other partners (Chemplate Materials SL, M&M, Innerspec).
The ACTIVAL project focuses on reducing the environmental impact of aircraft through the implementation of active protection technologies and acoustic sensors in aluminium aerostructures. In addition to being the leading company in the consortium, Titania’s participation focuses on studying anaphoretic treatments as an alternative solution to the use of hexavalent chromium products in surface treatments and primers, as these are hazardous substances for workers and the environment.
The PTA conference was organised by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), the Andalusian Technological Corporation (CTA), the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities through the IDEA Agency, and Andalucía Aerospace.
