The 17th National Materials Congress (CNMAT) was held in Malaga from 25 to 28 June. The event was attended by more than 300 professionals in the field of materials science from all over Spain.
Titania’s participation involved three presentations: one by Leticia Cabrera and two by Marta Botana, both researchers in the R&D area.
With regard to Leticia’s topic, she highlighted the progress of the NEOPROTECT project which is focused on the incorporation of encapsulated corrosion inhibitors in the anodising and anaphoresis stages in order to develop a system of protection against corrosion of chromium-free aluminium parts at the same time as meeting market requirements. National and international entities such as Chemplate Materials SL and Smallmatek are also participating in this project.
Marta Botana presented the results of the ACTIVAL project and the first advances of the IMAGINA project. The ACTIVAL project was focused on the study of anaphoretic treatments as an alternative solution to the use of products derived from hexavalent chromium in surface treatments and primers and was promoted by a consortium in which Titania is the coordinating company and in which other companies such as M&M, Chemplate Material SL and Innerspec are participating. IMAGINA aims to implement artificial intelligence models to the tests based on image analysis with the objective of designing a technology testing tool with a confidence level of 95%.
CNMAT 2024 was organised by SOCIEMAT and the University of Malaga, with the collaboration of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS), EFC and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
