This section of the catalogue includes tests based on the use of different thermal analysis techniques to study different properties of polymer matrix composites.

Annually, we carry out more than 500 tests, including studies of composite materials using thermal analysis techniques.

For this purpose, we have temperature modulated differential scanning calorimetry (DSC/MDSC) and dynamo-mechanical analysers (DMA). These devices, either through heat flow or mechanical load measurement, provide information on the characteristic temperature-dependent transitions occurring in polymers, composites and other chemical compounds.

Using these techniques, the characteristic properties of these materials such as glass transition temperature, enthalpy and extent of cure, melting/crystallisation temperatures, % crystallinity, modulus of rigidity and storage can be determined.

Our quality system includes four standardised procedures, which are accredited by ENAC and NADCAP and approved by Airbus, Bombardier and Embraer. We perform the following thermal analysis tests on composite materials: Analysis of non metallic materials by DSC, Determination of the extent of cure by DSC, Determination of the glass transition temperature by MDSC, Determination of the glass transition temperatures (DMA), Determination of tg (DMA) (ISO 6721) and Determination of Tg and extent of cure by MDSC.
