One of Titania’s specialities is the performance of tests to study the corrosion behaviour of metallic materials. Our quality system includes ten standardised procedures, accredited by ENAC and NADCAP, and approved by Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer and Sikorsky.

Titania performs more than 1000 corrosion tests on metallic materials every year.

The performance of these tests is based on the combined use of various experimental techniques. These techniques include salt spray chambers, climatic chambers, condensation chambers, alternating immersion equipment and various types of microscopes. Our climatic test laboratory has two salt spray chambers with a capacity of 2000 litres each, two condensation chambers and ten climatic chambers with different characteristics. In addition, thanks to our collaboration with the University of Cadiz, we can offer climate tests in a walk-in chamber with a volume of 27 m3. We often use scanning electron microscopy to improve the characterisation of corroded samples.

Using these procedures we perform the following tests: Appearance and dustability, intergranular attack and end grain pitting, total immersion corrosion test for aircraft chemicals, sandwich corrosion, evaluation of bondline corrosion (BLC)
passivation evaluation by water immersion, passivation evaluation by copper sulfate, etch rate
identification of surface protection, salt spray test, thickness loss, inspection for confirmation of the anodising process, filiform corrosion resistance and exfoliation corrosion susceptibility.
