Titania, a technology SME specialising in materials testing, obtained the prestigious Silver rating in the EcoVadis corporate sustainability assessment in April 2025. This is the second time Titania has been assessed, this time achieving a level of recognition that places it in the top 6% of companies evaluated worldwide.

This achievement represents an increase of 16% over the results obtained in March 2024, reflecting the positive impact of the improvement actions implemented by Titania to strengthen its commitment to sustainability, especially in the environmental field.

The main measures adopted include:

  • ISO 14001 certification: This was obtained at the end of 2024 and guarantees the company’s environmental management.

  • Renewable energy: Titania has photovoltaic installations at each work centre, capable of supplying up to 25% of its electricity demand. In addition, in 2022 it replaced its combustion-powered corporate vehicle with a 100% electric vehicle.

  • Energy efficiency: The incorporation of a new 28 m2 spray booth, which eliminates the use of fossil fuels as it is completely electric, as well as having uniform air flow and heat recovery technology, has significantly reduced energy consumption.

  • Water reuse: The implementation of a system for the reuse of reverse osmosis rejection water has led to a reduction in water consumption of around 200 m3 per year, with the rejection water being used to supply different processes (pollutant abatement system and cooling processes).

  • Reuse of materials: In 2024, the From Testing to Training programme, an initiative to donate materials to educational centres, has enabled more than 250 students to be trained in the practical use of industrial materials and has avoided the production of more than 1 tonne of waste.

In addition to the environmental area, Titania has improved its score in the other criteria evaluated by EcoVadis: labour conditions and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement, thus consolidating its responsible business model in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations.

Obtaining this qualification in its second assessment demonstrates not only Titania’s commitment to the environment, but also to its human team. As the members of the sustainability team comprising Adrián González Hidalgo (Head of Environment), Virginia Gómez Pérez (Head of Human Resources, Communication and Occupational Risk Prevention) and Marina Torres Camacho (Procurement specialist) pointed out: “This recognition demonstrates our commitment at the same time as it motivates us to continue moving forwards towards ever more responsible management. We were very close to achieving the gold medal… and this proximity encourages us even more. Our excellence will drive us to achieve it!”.
