On 5th April, the first informative conference on R&D in Industry was held in the Salón de Grados of the University of Cadiz’s Faculty of Science.

The event was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, José Manuel Gómez Montes de Oca, and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Chacón, Director of Titania. The event was attended by science and engineering students from the University of Cadiz.

The programme, divided into five acts and with a colloquium to close the day, began with the intervention of Pedro Astola, Head of R&D, who led the attendees in a reflection on the meaning of R&D, and then described Titania’s medium and long-term strategic lines of innovation.

This scenario served to present the different successful projects and to highlight the importance of research and innovation in the sector. To this end, Marta Botana, Doctor in Chemistry, highlighted her role as a researcher within the Cadiz company after her Thesis on Laser Processing as a Surface Treatment Tool. Next, Leticia Cabrera, a current industrial doctoral student, highlighted the collaboration between the University of Cadiz and Titania in the implementation of her dual training project. Lastly, Raúl Páez, a researcher, took the attendees out into space by showing the results of a project that consisted of the manufacture of sensors for satellites using advanced technologies.

To end the day and put our feet back on the ground, Virginia Gómez, from the Human Resources department, presented the different ways of accessing the company through the Talent Recruitment Programme.
