Titania received recognition from the University of Cadiz (UCA) as a Company Collaborating with Employment and Internship Activities, a distinction that was awarded by the Centre for the Promotion of Employment and Internships. The event was held on Wednesday 13th December at the School of Engineering on the Puerto Real campus.
The event was presided over by UCA’s acting Rector, Francisco Piniella, Olga de la Pascua, secretary of UCA’s Social Council, Carmen Romero, Secretary General of the Confederation of Employers of the province of Cadiz (CEC) and Luis López, director general of UCA’s Centre for the Promotion of Employment and Internships.
The event was held to thank the 7,392 entities, companies and institutions that collaborate with the university in order to promote the transfer of knowledge since, as Francisco Piniella said, “for months these entities provide an expansion of the classroom, allowing theoretical training to converge with the practical development of the knowledge acquired in each of our university centres”. Luis López highlighted the value of the company-university alliance by pointing out that in the 2019/2023 period, some 20,300 students participated in internship programmes.
In the case of Titania, during the 2019/2023 period, the company welcomed 27 trainees, 4 of whom were hired. This reaffirms its commitment to retaining young talent.
The Cadiz-based company has a close relationship with the university. Its link is not only focused on receiving students through internships, but it also participates actively and directly in the training of students, for example, in the master’s degree in Nanoscience and Materials Technologies where Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, general manager of Titania, and Pedro Astola, head of the R&D Department, give seminars on Business Leadership and Innovation. In addition, the company’s involvement also extends to post-graduate studies. Thus, Titania collaborates with UCA to co-finance pre-doctoral contracts for research personnel to carry out industrial theses in the company. Finally, and in line with its commitment to quality education, Titania participates in different sponsorship and scientific and technological dissemination activities with different UCA bodies.
The meeting ended with a small celebration in the hall of the School of Engineering which allowed the different companies that make up the business fabric of the Bay of Cadiz to get to know each other.
