On 28th and 29th November, the Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower Hotel hosted the Igualia Awards as part of the 1st International Summit organised by the International Association for Equality, Non-Discrimination and Diversity (IAEDD) and promoted by the company IGUALIA. These awards recognise the trajectory of 8 entities that have contributed to and stood out in the defence of gender equality and diversity at a national level.

Titania Ensayos y Proyectos Industriales has been recognised as “Empresa IGUALIA a la Gestión de la Igualdad” (IGUALIA Management of Equality Company) for its work towards achieving equality in the male-dominated industrial sector – work carried out inside and outside the company itself, and in collaboration with key social agents. Its commitment to female talent is made visible through its participation in conferences and regional programmes such as UNIVERGEM, promoted by the Centre for the Promotion of Employment and Internships of the University of Cadiz. The event was attended by Virginia Gómez, head of Human Resources and Communication, and Marta Botana, researcher and coordinator of R&D projects.

The Cadiz-based company has been recognised on other occasions for its equality policies. In March of this year, it won the Meridiana Prize for R&D+i initiatives awarded by the Regional Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, through the Andalusian Women’s Institute (IAM).

In the field of equality, its efforts are focused on developing positive actions to achieve a more equal society and to break through the 30-70 imbalance that is so characteristic of the sector and of STEM professions. In fact, Titania has now achieved parity in its workforce. Thus, the company from Cadiz is not only a benchmark within the Andalusian technological fabric for its activity focused on the development of research projects in the field of materials science but also for its management in terms of equality and social engagement.

Titania understands its role in society as being an agent of change, as highlighted by Virginia Gómez during her speech at the award ceremony. The event ended with an event that served as a meeting point for the rest of the award-winning entities and attendees.

This first edition of the International Summit was attended by more than 50 speakers, 8 universities, 30 international organisations, 250 collaborating companies and more than 100,000 attendees from more than 30 countries, of which 400 attended the event in person.
